User avatar
TruJerz - Wed Apr 16, 2014 5:00 am
I haven't been here but I would say that as much as I love Melo's game

First time in Melo's 11-year NBA career he's missed playoffs. He should go to the Bulls, a much better situation than New York.

Chris Paul becomes the 1st player in NBA history to lead the league in assists and steals for 3 seasons.

Huge game for the Raptors tomorrow. If they win they will likely face Washington in the 1st round. If they lose they'll face the Nets.

Paul George > Melo

Paul George's first 50 games > Melo. Paul George's entire season... Maybe not.
User avatar
indiefan23 - Wed Apr 16, 2014 11:02 pm
Oh come on Poppy. Paul George is not better than Melo. His first 50 games even were not better. Melo put up 28/10 with an injured team around him in november

indiefan23 - Wed Apr 16, 2014 11:06 pm
Then in December he put up 27/7/3 on 48% and 45%. Paul George was not better than that. Then in January Melo put up 29/9/3.4 on 45% and 49%. Then in Feb he put up 32/8/3 on 46% and 51%.

And this is the biggest difference. Melo had his whole season on pace and continuously got better as it went along because that's what pros in their prime do. Paul George pushed way too hard early trying to prove something, got over rated, and then hit the wall because he's not there yet. Melo on coast > Paul George on tilt. #fact

Ah, Rubio led the league in steals this year
User avatar
TruJerz - Thu Apr 17, 2014 12:01 am
then there's defense. Paul George is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. He had months where he averaged over 2 stls a game. Melo vs George is a legit argument tho

and CP3 averages 2.5 steals to Rubio's 2.3

unless you meant total steals but that's not what Sam was talking about

NBA and the media values average more than total because it's common for players miss games due to injuries. This is how they give out awards. For example, the scoring title isn't given to the player with the most total points, it's given to the player who averages the most points.

So glad one of the most unwatchable regular seasons is over. God, that was bad. Bring on the playoffs baby! Should be phenomenal, especially the West.

Paul George didn't even make it through half a season without collapsing. It come on. Quit the excuses.

Big333223 - Thu Apr 17, 2014 3:04 pm
Paul Goerge is one of the 2 best perimeter defenders in the league and Melo is one of the two best scorers in the league. But Geore is also a dangerous scorer and Melo is not a good defender. Over the season, Melo is better but it's a converation worth having.

I don't get what you're crying about? what excuses? bringing up his defense?
User avatar
TruJerz - Thu Apr 17, 2014 3:30 pm
his worst stretch was actually in March when he averaged 19/8/4/2stls and shot 37% from the field. That was the lowest slump of the season. He didn't collapse. He had stretches when he struggled to score. The other parts of his game stayed the same throughout

just out of curiosity, what makes the end of season performance is more significant than early season?
User avatar

do you know how many times you mention melo's performace last season before the playoff?
User avatar

Not a Raptors fan, not a Canadian, but this gave me chills. Brilliant promo for the playoffs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9xnS9EJmRU
