heh, man, Phuck I know you said it before the game, but it's the Nets that can't match up with Toronto. A 52-30 rebounding advantage is no joke at all. They have no one that can compete on the glass which is a major problem when you are a jump shooting team.
LeBron James' 'coasting' on D is him carrying an above average defensive team. So why do you call it coasting? The reality is that everyone who's elite coasts in the NBA. It's what is also known as having another gear you go to in the playoffs and it's what champions are made of
an 82 game season of basketball is just too long and pacing yourself is necessary but it just gets spun negatively. Like that video Shafty made about his shot contests... taht just looks like a guy not biting on shot fakes to me and I'd call it playing defence with your head. It's a big part of why he tops out 2.0 PF/36 minutes in a single season in his career.
And sure he gives up some looks but takes away driving and passing lanes. It worked on KD in the finals too. KD put up 30 on 55% and 39% but was just so much less effective than vs SAS when he averaged 6 dimes on only 2.5 TOs in their 4 straight wins. Compare that to only 1.8 dimes and 4.3 TOs in their four straight losses. Defence is about way more that stopping your man from scoring and way too many people mistake the trees for the forest when they evaluate it.
And the point is that this kind of D is being sold, this year, as 'coasting' and it's bullshit. LeBron has always played that way because fouling jump shooters is a cardinal sin he doesn't commit. KD scored a bit better vs Miami in those finals than vs SAS too, but was totally taken out of his game and it's why they lost. If you only consider points/shots/makes/%s it looks like KD owned them when the exact opposite happened.
yea, Nets have a rebounding problem. Raptors can't guard JJ but it's not like JJ is super aggressive and will exploit that advantage at will. I do think Nets will win the next 2 games at home tho but Nets have glaring weaknesses that gives Toronto a shot
